How to convert an X video to MP3

1. Copy the post link. Tap the share icon under the post, then Copy link.
2. Paste it above. Press Download. The MP3 · audio only row is shown first.
3. Save. Press Save. The MP3 is made and your download starts.

How it works

X keeps a video's sound inside the video file. There's no separate audio to download. When you choose MP3, our server reads the public video, pulls out the sound and saves it as an MP3. Then it deletes the video copy.

MP3s from X are usually small. In our test, the audio from a 6-second post was only 26 KB. A two-minute interview is still only a few megabytes.

Which posts work?

Posts that anyone can see without logging in, from x.com or twitter.com links.

• Protected accounts (with a lock icon) can't be saved.
• Posts hidden behind a login or a sensitive-content warning can't be read.
• GIFs on X never have sound, so there's no MP3 for them. Try the Twitter GIF downloader instead.
• Spaces (live audio rooms) aren't supported.

When there's no MP3 option

If a post's video is silent, you'll see a short note saying there's no MP3, and only video sizes will be listed. That usually means the clip was a GIF or was uploaded without sound.

Very rarely, a video looks like it has sound but the MP3 step fails. You'll see a clear message, and you can still save the MP4 from the same list or from the X video downloader.

Quoting audio fairly

Audio from X often comes from public figures, journalists and creators. Saving a clip to listen to or to check a quote is common. If you publish it, say where it came from and who said it. Don't change the clip in a way that alters its meaning.

Where does the MP3 go?

• iPhone and iPad: the Files app, under Downloads. Tap to play.
• Android: your Download folder. Music and podcast apps can usually open it.
• Windows and Mac: your downloads folder.

The file is named after the post's text, shortened. Rename it with the speaker's name if you're saving several clips.

If something goes wrong

• "Private or needs a login": the account is protected, or X now requires a login for that post.
• "We couldn't make an MP3": the video may be silent. Save the MP4 instead.
• "Can't be found": the post was deleted or the link is incomplete.
• Save stopped working: Save buttons last 30 minutes. Paste the link again.
